recognize this mama!? I took pictures at their wedding weekend in Florida last June and now they are welcoming a baby boy into their family. wow does time fly.

in the middle of working full time, buying and selling a house, and being a little over three weeks from baby day – these two made the trip for a maternity session. they were a bit nervous to travel, I wish I could have come to them but we couldn’t quite get our schedules to mesh. everything turned out okay and I am so glad that they came to visit, we love hanging out with them and we managed to fit in a game night while they were here!

they are counting down the days before their baby arrives, and he might not know it yet but he is in for a wonderful life with so much love waiting for him between these two amazing parents and three adorable siblings.

behind the pictures | I wanted timeless and classic for these photos. and FYI, navy in nature is now a favorite. I shot this entire session with a 5D III + 85 1.8 (except for one series was with a 35L, only because I couldn’t back up any further due to a sloggy mess behind us).  I said a few sessions ago that I wanted to get very comfortable with this lens because the compression is phenomenal and makes for some very pretty pictures. I am right on the verge of feeling as comfortable with my 85 as I am with my 35, and that makes me VERY happy. If you have seen my other work, the color edits are quite different from the way I usually edit. I am way excited because I am very close to incorporating film into my sessions. I have been learning to edit my pictures to look like film and this session was perfect for it because like I said, I wanted timeless and classic. we shot at three different locations, I wanted a moodier and more dramatic feel for the shots we got at the first two locations because the light was so strong. Megan’s husband came along to the third location and was a huge help by wielding a diffuser and reflector. I wanted softer light and pretty tones at the third location and that was what we got. post was completely in Lightroom and the edits mainly consisted of desaturating greens, correcting skin tones with the tint & temperature sliders, upping the exposure ever so slightly, adding a bit of clarity and an overall sharpen. the black and whites are the same as usual, I have a signature editing style for those that I don’t anticipate that ever changing.
