These two extended and blended families were so awesome to work with! The first side of the family met in the park and the second side of the family met across the highway at a local historical site. Lots of fun personalities to work with and that always makes my job much easier!
Extended family sessions are different than regular family sessions simply because there are more people to work with and more groupings to photograph. The most important photo is the group photo, and I typically do this picture last because I like everyone to be warmed up to me and I like to be familiar with names and family groupings before I pose the large family photo. I work quickly and efficiently to get through all of the pictures so that if there are any additional requests then I can easily fit them into our session time.
What should I expect from an extended family session? Before our session – I work together with you to create a shot list so that I am prepared with the groupings that you would like photos of. I bring a checklist of the requested groupings. This helps the session run smoothly and leaves extra time between images for me to catch some candid moments between family members! There is always time at the end for a few fun photos or additional pictures that didn’t cross your mind when we made our initial list.
